Legal/Litigation Services: For 39 years Gary has been a litigator in Illinois, representing an array of plaintiff and defendant individuals, as well as corporations, insurers, attorneys, physicians and entrepreneurs. He has engaged in jury and bench trials in state and federal courts, including Cook, DuPage, Lake and Kane County as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He has been involved with or argued appeals before the U.S. Appellate Court for the Seventh Circuit, First and Second Illinois Appellate Districts, the Supreme Court of Indiana and Supreme Court of Illinois.
Gary was a hearing officer for the Illinois Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) from 2003-2004, and a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI; Lawyers’ Professionalism & Ethics), Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC; Ethics Section), Professional Liability Underwriters Society (PLUS; Midwest Steering Committee), American Bar Association, and Illinois State Bar Association.
Public Services: Gary was the Mayor of Burr Ridge, Illinois from May 2005 to December 2012 when he resigned to take his currently held elected position as a Member of the DuPage County Board. In 2014, Gary was appointed as Chairman of the DuPage County Emergency Telephone Service Board (ETSB-911). Gary was also a former Trustee of the DuPage County Board of Health from 1999-2012.
Community Services: In 2009, Gary joined the Board of Directors of Hinsdale Bank & Trust, Hinsdale, Illinois; a Wintrust bank and continues that service today. He also was on the Board of the Robert Crown Center for Health Education, Hinsdale, IL from 2015-2016. Gary is a former trustee of the Thomas Ford Memorial Library Foundation and its governing Board, as well as a former member of the Parish Council and School Board for St. John of Cross parish and grammar school in Western Spring, Illinois.
Family: Gary is married to Janet Ryan Grasso of Clarendon Hills and Hinsdale, IL since 1978. Together they have raised six now-grown children and have two daughters-in-law, two grandsons and a granddaughter. Janet is an international flight attendant with American Airlines. She is a graduate of DePaul Law School and St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana. Janet is an inactive member of Illinois Bar, and former Trustee of the Village of Burr Ridge (2013-2017).
